It seems to me that every clan that exists is based around only taking in the best people they come across. Personaly, from my battlenet experience with starcraft, where there are not nearly as many "elite". clans taking newbies on will not damage your reputation. Infact the short simple solution is to hand out titles, like gunman, sniper, or master gunman for example, so people will know who the elite are, but you don't have to be pricks and not accept anybody else.
